Employment/Volunteering

Our students have the opportunity to undertake a range of employment and/or volunteering opportunities alongside their studies.

On the BSc (Hons) Sports Business Management course we offer a 12 month sandwich placement between years two and three. Short-term work placements are also avaliable, either within modules or alongside your studies.

There is also the Undergraduate Research Internship Programme, whereby students can work alongside academics on live research projects. Volunteer opportunities through the V Project, CPD courses via CIMSPA, UCLan's M & M Mentoring Scheme and the chance to gain additional coaching and officiating qualifications are also on offer.

Students on our Masters courses in Sports Business Management and Sports Marketing and Business Management have the opportunity to undertake the Consultancy Project module, which involves students acting as a consultant to sports organisations, tackling real-life business/marketing problems.

Examples of organisations for whom students have worked include Wigan Warriors Rugby League Club, AFL Europe, Preston City Council, St Helens Rugby League Club and Preston Grasshoppers.

The same range of volunteering opportunities are also open to Masters students.
